The optical scheme of the adapter Metabones Speed Booster XL 0.64x includes 6 elements combined into 4 groups. The patented optical design concentrates the flow of light designed for a 35-mm matrix on a smaller Micro 4/3 matrix, so the resolution of the optics is not only not reduced, but even increased. The relative aperture ("aperture") of the lens is increased by 1⅓ steps. Thus, for example, a lens with a nominal aperture of f / 1.2 is converted into a lens with a aperture of f / 0.8.
The crop factor of Micro 4/3 cameras in photo mode is reduced from 2x to 1.28x. Crop factor of the Panasonic GH4 camera in 4K video mode is reduced from 2.34x to 1.5x. Thus, the possibilities of shooting with a wide field of view are greatly expanded. The adapter does not support Canon EF-S mount lenses, but can be used with non-DX lenses from other manufacturers (Sigma, Tamron, Tokina, etc.). Please note that lenses for APS-C arrays may not cover the entire frame area. , enhanced vignetting may occur. Manual lenses with protruding backs may not be supported or require modification before use.
