Sound recording, or sound recording, is the process of converting acoustic vibrations into an electrical signal. Today the equipment allows converting sound into a sequence of numbers, a bit sequence (digital sound). Sound recording can be mono, stereo and quadraphonic.
Types of sound recording:
- Analog sound recording: mechanical, electromechanical, optical, magnetic.
- Digital sound recording (bit set): magnetic digital, magneto-optical, laser, optical digital.
