Mechanical adapter for attaching Arri PL bayonet lenses to Sony E-mount cameras. Full metal construction: chrome-plated brass bayonet rings, aluminum main body. The interior trim with black velvet material successfully eliminates possible artifacts associated with light reflections. The adapter has a detachable tripod leg with a 1/4"-20 tripod thread, also compatible with Arca Swiss mounts.
The adapter is completely mechanical, since the Arri PL system itself does not imply electronic contacts on the mount. All Metabones adapters use chrome-plated brass bayonet rings, both on the lens side and on the camera side. Compared to cheap aluminum, brass can be machined more accurately, wears out less and expands less when heated, so the lens is mounted on the camera very tightly, without any backlash or rocking. Thus, the image quality is fully preserved. The design of the adapter provides infinity focusing and correct operation with lenses that have "floating" elements in the scheme.
