The SONY Alpha a6400 is the first camera to use the Speed x AI artificial intelligence technology for incredibly fast and reliable focus. The camera instantly detects faces and eyes and tries to keep focus on a given object without switching to other people. Fast hybrid autofocus works over almost the entire area of the matrix, so you can just forget about it and focus on something else: composition or contact with the model. Touch flip display is convenient for selfie and video blogging. A6400 has a very powerful functionality for professional video shooting.
The built-in intervalometer allows you to shoot long time lamps (up to 9999 frames), while for the first time control is provided for the reaction of the camera to changing illumination: fast, medium or slow.
Thanks to the touch screen, you can control the focus by pointing the desired object on the screen with your finger (classic touch autofocus, convenient when using a tripod), or switch between focus points by swiping the screen in the appropriate direction (convenient when shooting with the viewfinder). The second option replaces the physical autofocus joystick. The display tilts up and down, and for the first time for 6000 Series cameras, it can be raised up 180 ° when you shoot yourself.
Remote shooting from a PC using the new Imaging Edge program should appeal to those who are engaged in studio shooting (including subject shooting). Among the features claimed image overlay - to fine tune focus, composition and exposure.
Traditionally, much attention has been paid to video: the a6400 was the first Sony APS-C camera with support for shooting in HLG (HDR-gamma). HLG is a simpler solution for preserving details of high-contrast scenes compared to using the Log-gamma (especially since Sony cameras do not support loading LUT-profiles). Although HLG does not provide such wide opportunities for professional grading, for most amateurs and even a number of professionals this will be quite enough, especially since HLG files are viewed on Sony HDR televisions and Sony HDR monitors without the need for any processing. Log recording to the memory card is also present: in the form of S-Log2 and S-Log3, there is a zebra, focus picking, parallel recording of proxy files in 720p, 4: 2: 2 8-bit output via HDMI. As before, 4K video is sampled from all pixels in the matrix, and a 6K to 4K conversion is obtained while maintaining high detail.
Sony a6400 is made in a magnesium case with some degree of protection against dust and splashes (not 100%). The camera shutter is tested for 200,000 operations. Other key points include high-speed burst shooting of 8 or 11 frames per second, a high-resolution viewfinder, a small built-in flash and a shoe for a more powerful external one. The upper threshold of photosensitivity is slightly raised: from ISO 25600 to 32,000, or up to 102,400 in the extended range), focusing in low light is also improved (up to EV -2).
Kit includes: battery + charger.
