A Sigma 50-100mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art Canon EF telephoto lens for full-frame cameras (APS-C format) with a uniquely high constant aperture ratio of 1: 1.8. According to the manufacturer, this lens is designed for portrait shooting and can successfully replace the three main portrait “fixes”: 85mm F1.8, 105mm F1.8, and 135 mm F1.8 (in 35 mm equivalent). A very complex optical scheme of 21 lenses includes immediately 7 elements of glass with a low dispersion coefficient (3 FLD, 4 SLD), which ensures high image quality over the entire range of focal lengths.
The updated ultrasonic motor (HSM), as before, allows you to focus quickly and at any time to bring the focus manually by simply turning the ring. Focusing and zooming are internal, they do not affect the external dimensions of the lens. 9-blade aperture provides soft background blur.
The lens body is made of a combination of metal and a thermostable composite material, which ensures equal image quality both when shooting in heat and in cold. After assembly, all SIGMA 50-100mm F1.8 DC HSM lenses are tested on test benches of the A1 system with a 46-megapixel Foveon sensor, which allows you to immediately detect and remove defective specimens from production.
